US-based cloud company Snowflake will invest USD 300 million in Saudi Arabia through 2030, targeting cloud infrastructure expansion and workforce development. The investment includes launching two additional cloud regions in the second half of 2026 and training up to 25,000 people in data and AI skills over five years.

Partnership with Ministry of Communications and Information Technology#

Snowflake and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will deliver the One Million Minds programme, training up to 25,000 learners in data and AI over five years. Participants will receive virtual and in-person training through Snowflake's learning platform, with opportunities to earn certifications and develop practical projects. Mentorship and networking will be available through the Saudi Arabia Data and AI Community. The partnership will introduce Snowflake Academia to the Middle East for the first time, helping universities incorporate data and AI technologies into curricula.

Cloud Infrastructure Expansion in 2026#

Snowflake plans to launch two additional cloud regions in Saudi Arabia in the second half of 2026, complementing its existing presence through Google Cloud's Dammam region. The new regions are intended to give customers more flexibility in choosing cloud environments and help businesses meet data residency and sovereignty requirements. The expansion follows a 20 percent year-on-year increase in business use of AI in Saudi Arabia in 2025, according to the General Authority for Statistics.

Training Programme Structure and Certification#

The training programme will provide virtual and in-person instruction through Snowflake's learning platform, with participants able to earn certifications and complete practical projects. The Saudi Arabia Data and AI Community will offer mentorship and networking opportunities to learners. Snowflake Academia will support universities in incorporating current data and AI technologies into academic programmes, aiming to develop a technology workforce equipped for industry needs. The USD 300 million investment runs through 2030, with the two additional cloud regions scheduled to launch in the second half of 2026.
