The UAE Ministry of Justice presented an agentic AI framework at the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi, running until 1 October 2026 at ADNEC Centre. The ministry deployed five specialised AI agents that reduce case file review time from several days to hours, according to a demonstration at the ministry's pavilion during the Congress exhibition.

Five AI agents handle sequential judicial tasks#

The system uses the Case File Review Assistant, Case Analysis Assistant, Legal Research Assistant, Decision Support Assistant and Judgment Drafting Assistant. Each performs a defined workflow function. The first agent classifies digital case documents and pulls out key information. The second links facts with evidence and identifies principal legal issues. The third compiles relevant legislation alongside judicial precedents. The fourth summarises available legal options with their implications. The fifth prepares a preliminary draft judgment that remains subject to full judicial review and approval.

Integration with existing electronic court systems#

The AI agents integrate with the ministry's existing electronic court systems, according to interactive demonstrations at the pavilion. Visitors can trace a case journey from submission of a digital case file through to preparation of an initial draft judgment. The showcase is designed for both specialist and non-specialist audiences to understand how the technology supports judicial work. The Congress gathers international officials, experts and practitioners working in crime prevention, criminal justice and law enforcement to share knowledge on responsible use of emerging technologies across justice systems.

Judicial oversight maintained throughout process#

The framework maintains full judicial oversight at every stage, with judges retaining the central role in administration of justice. The Judgment Drafting Assistant produces a non-binding preliminary draft that remains fully subject to the judge's review, amendment and approval. The ministry showcased the initiative as part of its participation in the exhibition accompanying the Congress. The demonstration runs throughout the Congress period at the ministry's pavilion in the exhibition area.

Congress hosted at ADNEC Centre through October#

The 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is hosted by the UAE at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The event runs until 1 October 2026. The ministry's participation includes the pavilion demonstration of the AI-assisted judicial process. Abdulrahman Murad Al Blooshi, Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation and Legal Affairs, is among ministry representatives at the Congress.
